Welcome to the Faculty of Technology
Faculty of Technology is one of the newest Faculties to join the prestigious University of Colombo. In response to the introduction of the “Technology Stream” for Advanced Level curriculum, the University of Colombo took up the challenge to accept students from this stream who qualify to enter the University, in a new Faculty, the Faculty of Technology. University of Colombo is the oldest and the highest ranked Higher Educational Institute in the country and establishment of the new Faculty will be a further step in its march towards achieving excellence in many different educational fields. Students of various disciplines study in seven other Faculties, Institutes or Schools of the University of Colombo and the University will ensure that the students of the new Faculty of Technology will be provided with unique opportunities for them to be among the best.
Highlights of Memorandum of Understanding Signing Ceremony (UoC and RCS2 Technologies (Pvt) Ltd)
In a significant step towards advancing innovation and collaboration, the University of Colombo and RCS2 Technologies (PVT) Limited have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at fostering mutual growth in the fields of research, technology, and education. This partnership promises to leverage the strengths of both institutions to achieve milestones in academia and industry. The MoU, effective from 26.03.2025, outlines a framework for cooperation between the University’s Faculty of Technology and RCS2 Technologies (PVT) Limited, a leading ICT solutions provider specializing in 3D Printing, Business Process Automation, IoT, and Robotics.
The Vice Chancellor of the University of Colombo, Senior Professor (Chair) H.D. Karunaratne expressed optimism about the collaboration, stating, “This MoU signifies our commitment to integrating cutting-edge industry practices with academic excellence. It will open doors for our students and faculty to engage in transformative projects and global opportunities.” Echoing these sentiments, the Director/CEO of RCS2 Technologies (PVT) Limited, Mr. Rajitha De Silva emphasized the importance of such collaborations in driving technological advancements, noting, “By combining our expertise with the University’s academic resources, we aim to create innovative solutions that address real-world challenges.”
For this momentous occasion, the Dean of the Faculty of Technology, Prof. Ranjana U. K. Piyadasa; Head of the Department of Instrumentation and Technology, Dr. B. L. Sanjaya Thilakarathne; and Senior Lecturer, Dr. Ruwan Kalubowila, were present to represent the University of Colombo. Representing RCS2 Technologies (PVT) Limited, Senior Manager – Business Development Mr. Kantha Wijemanna, and Executive – Education Development Ms. Kaveesha Gayadini joined the event, underscoring the significance of this collaboration.
