Faculty of Technology is one of the newest Faculties to join the prestigious University of Colombo. The main campus of the University of Colombo is situated in a busy environment at the heart of Colombo city. However, the new Faculty is located in Pitipana, Homagama. This is an ideal location to have set up the Technology Faculty for many reasons. It is in the midst of the newly planned Techno City of the Western Mega polis and is in close proximity to other educational and research institutes such as the National School of Business Management (NSBM) green university and Sri Lanka Institute of NanoTechnology (SLINTEC). Even though it is an area that is fast developing, the Faculty of Technology, in the Mahenwatte estate, is in a very tranquil setting which is very conducive for carrying out academic activities. It has the luxury of space that the main city campus lacks, that allows additional benefits such as on-campus hostel facilities. The students in the Technology Faculty have access to common facilities of the Colombo University also (such as the main library and playground) and the Faculty will be linked to the main campus in Colombo through a regular shuttle coach service.
