The Buddhist Society of the Faculty of Technology, University of Colombo is a registered student organization that focuses on the exploration, study, and practice of Buddhist teachings, philosophy, and culture. This society provides a platform for students interested in Buddhism to come together, share their knowledge, engage in discussions, and participate in various activities related to Buddhism.

We welcome everyone regardless of cultural or religious background to join us and discover the Buddha’s teaching, the Law of Dharma running through everything that exists beyond religious boundaries.

Buddhist Society has taken proactive measures to provide religious and spiritual services, contributing to the well-being and personal development of students and staff. The incorporation of Lord Buddha’s teaching, “Your mind is everything, what you think, you will become,” reflects a commitment to shaping the mental and spiritual aspects of individuals.

The objectives of the Buddhist society are,

  • To encourage the faculty community to achieve their spiritual development through Buddhist philosophy.
  • To help live free from suffering, filled with joy and compassion according to the Dharma, the true Wisdom.
  • To coordinate and organize Buddhist activities within the Faculty of Technology, University of Colombo.
  • To protect Buddhist culture and its values fast disappearing from society.
  • To contribute to the religious harmony within the university community and beyond.

The executive committee of the Buddhist Society should consist of 6 members, such as Senior Treasurer, President, Vice-President, Secretary, Junior Treasurer and Editor.  The Dean of the faculty will be the patron of the society. Membership of the society is free and open to students, academic staff and non-academic staff.
