In Sri Lanka, there is an acute shortage of well-trained and skilled personnel who are conversant with theoretical and practical aspects of technology-related disciplines. The limited number of technology graduates produced by Sri Lankan universities is not at all sufficient to meet the demands of the country as well as overseas. At present, a technologist plays a big role in almost all branches of the development of the country, especially in the current phase of reviving the local economy. Having properly analyzed the potential of emerging trends in the technology profession, the Department of Instrumentation and Automation Technology has decided to offer certificate courses in the Technology program enriched with intellectual and professional insights. The department intends to offer technology-related knowledge to practitioners and students who are eligible to enhance their disciplinary knowledge of technology.

The certificate programs will be a better foundation for technology-related advanced studies and will pave the way for career opportunities in the technology discipline.
