DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE QA CELL

  1. To promote quality enhancement activities within the Faculty/Institute/Campus liaising with the Curriculum & Academic Development Committee (or its equivalent), Teaching and Learning Committee and other faculty committees and departments.
  2. To liaise with the Center for Quality Assurance Unit (CQA) of the University  of Colombo in facilitating the conduct of institutional reviews, programme reviews and other activities as requested by the Quality Assurance Council (QAC) of the UGC.
  3. To prepare and make available in a suitable mode, all documents necessary for institutional and programme reviews.
  4. To facilitate the implementation of follow-up actions recommended in Institution / Programme review reports, and to monitor progress of their implementation.
  5. To liaise with IQACs of other faculties/institutes/campus within the University of Colombo, to share good practices with a view to overall improvement of the quality of programmes of the university.
  6. To collate, analyse and develop reports and disseminate through appropriate means and fora, QA data such as peer review forms and student feedback forms.
  7. To devise and suggest additional QA measures or changes to the existing measures, based on the data collected on various QA indicators such as peer feedback, student evaluation reports and external reviews.
  8. To support the Faculty/Institute/Campus in quality assurance of online and blended teaching and learning modes and to monitor and report progress at regular intervals at relevant committees.

Responsibilities and Duties of the Chairperson of the IQAC

  1. Liaise with the Director, Center for Quality Assurance Unit of the University of Colombo to support and coordinate university level QA activities.
  2. Represent the Faculty/Institute/Campus in all QA related activities.
  3. Organize Faculty/Institute/Campus level QA meetings.
  4. Nominate to the Dean/Director/Rector the names of members to the  Dean,  to  be  appointed  as  domain  coordinators  for each criterion as given manuals on quality assurance of the UGC.
  5. Provide guidance to the domain coordinators and prepare the Faculty/Institute/Campus level internal QA reports with their inputs.
  6. Liaise   with   professional   quality   assurance   and   accreditation   bodies   on   matters pertaining to QA and accreditation, if required.
  7. Monitor the collation and analysis of Faculty/Institute/Campus level internal QA data such as peer review forms and student feedback forms.
  8. Work with other related committees and units within the Faculty/Institute/Campus on matters related to QA.
  9. Answer and address issues related to QA raised by the Faculty/Institute/Campus members in general and by the QA domain coordinators in particular.
  10. Report the activities of the Faculty QA Cell to the faculty board/Board of Management and CQA regularly.
